U.S. nonprofit health care organizations in 2013 enjoyed a surge in donations over the previous year, according to the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy’s Report on Giving. Donors gave hospitals, systems and related institutions more than $9.2 billion, an increase of $276 million over 2012. Hospitals and systems that invested in philanthropy continued to see a $3.55 return for every $1 invested.
