Hospital CEO turnover decreased slightly in 2010 to 16 percent, according to the American College of Healthcare Executives. The turnover rate recorded in 2009 was 18 percent; between 2001 and 2008, it fluctuated between 14 and 16 percent. ACHE's data is based on 4,567 hospitals reporting chief executive officer turnover to the American Hospital Association. Among states with more than 30 hospitals, Nevada, Oklahoma, Alabama, Massachusetts and Virginia reported the highest levels of turnover.
