42% of Most Wired hospitals offer psychiatric exams and psychotherapy via telemedicine to patients in other hospitals
Smaller percentages of Most Wired hospitals also offer telehealth visits for psych services to physician offices (29 percent), critical access hospitals (28 percent), rural health clinics (25 percent) and federally qualified health centers (14 percent).
Those hospitals that received the Most Wired designation in Hospitals & Health Networks' annual information technology survey also provided telehealth visits for pharmacologic management, and consultations and office visits more often than all other hospitals responding to the 2011 survey. The majority of Most Wired hospitals — 70 percent — offer telehealth consults and office visits, compared with 42 percent of all other survey respondents.
